According to the Greek mythology, Hyacinth was a handsome young man, from Amykles Laconia, whom god Apollo accidentally killed by throwing a disc. Never seen before, the flower was risen from its corpse. Inspired by the legend, Mozart wrote opera «Apollo and Hyacinth», in 1767 (at age of 11).
